Choosing the right Warmth Class and TOG rating
The warmth class indicates which room temperature the duvet is suitable for. In the UK and international markets, this is often expressed as a TOG rating. While a higher TOG means a warmer duvet, the Dutch system works the opposite way: Class 1 is the warmest, and Class 4 is the coolest. See the comparison below:

Notably, warmth class 2 (around 10.5 TOG) is often listed as suitable for all seasons. However, this depends on your home; it might be too warm for mid-summer or too light for a very cold winter. The lower the TOG rating (and the higher the warmth class number), the more cooling the duvet provides.

How is the warmth determined?
TÜV assesses the warmth of a duvet based on its thickness and insulation properties. The thicker the duvet, the higher the TOG value and the lower the warmth class number. Check the table below for the correlation between thickness and class:

4-season duvets: The ultimate flexibility
A 4-season duvet consists of two layers: one part Class 3 (Spring/Autumn) and one part Class 4 (Summer). By snapping these layers together, you create a heavy Class 1 winter duvet (approx. 15 TOG). This system allows you to adapt your bed to three different warmth levels, ensuring the perfect temperature year-round.
Warmth Class 4+ / Extra Warm
